THE COUNSELING CO.

Meet Our Therapists

Donna Washington

LCP, Co-Founder and Therapist

Hi, I’m Donna and I am so glad you have found the Counseling Collaborative, where we specialize in providing services to women through the counseling experience. I have been a counselor for over 15 years and have extensive experience in working with women across the lifespan to address anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, motherhood, post-partum anxiety and depression, self-acceptance, career, and a number of other challenges and stressors.

Let’s be real, balancing all of the roles and expectations placed on us as women can be stressful and overwhelming. I can relate to feeling like you have to be everything to everyone on any given day, while believing you have to have it all together on the outside.

I believe therapy can yield the best outcomes when it is approached with you as a collaborative process. Building relationships with clients is important to me and creates the foundation for positive change. I would be honored to support you in having a safe, respectful and transformative space to work on becoming your truest and most authentic self, while managing the ups and downs of life.

My experience working with clients has involved utilizing a strengths-based and solution-focused approach in addressing symptoms and concerns. I utilize evidence-based interventions and include treatment modalities to best fit your presenting and on-going needs.

If you are ready to discover how professional support can help and you are searching for a deeper sense of identity and purpose, I am prepared to be on this journey alongside you!

Kelsey Foss

LCPC, Co-Founder and Therapist
Voted Best Therapist in Kansas City 2021 and 2022! 🎉

Hi, I am Kelsey and I am so honored you are reading this and considering me to sit alongside you as you take this next step.

I am a wife + mom + therapist. I am passionate about working alongside women. I believe in empowering women to accept themselves exactly as they are, while also striving to become the best version of themselves. I believe women are worthy of love and belonging before, during, and after they meet their treatment goals. There is no such thing as needing to be an ideal weight, in a perfect relationship, or have achieved all school/career goals before giving yourself permission to show yourself love. Self-love and acceptance can start today.

It is through both my clinical experiences and personal life experiences that I understand how to work through emotional challenges, to build resilience and strive toward holistic wellness despite all of life’s challenges.

I am a dynamic counselor with strong clinical skills who approaches each session with empathy, authenticity, and a desire to understand. I provide a safe and accepting therapeutic environment where I work collaboratively with the client to establish goals and progress towards positive change.

I specialize in women’s health and utilize a variety of evidence-based treatment approaches to help individuals cope with anxiety, depression, major life adjustments, mood and stress management, interpersonal conflict, self-esteem, and grief and loss.

My clinical experience includes individual counseling, couples counseling, group counseling, crisis response services, and assessments in university, hospital, and private practice settings.

I hope we are able to connect soon!

Tara Westerhouse

LCPC, PMH-C, Senior Therapist

Hi, I’m Tara! I’m so glad you’re here and have made the decision to invest in yourself. Throughout our lifetime, we walk through many different seasons - seasons of joy, celebration, and excitement, and also seasons of pain, loss, and disappointment. During those more difficult seasons, we may need extra support. As your therapist, I hope to offer practical tools and strategies to help you navigate every season of life.

I believe my clients are the experts on their lives and take a very collaborative approach to therapy. I use evidence-based techniques to help clients learn healthy ways to manage their thoughts and feelings. I am action-oriented and want my clients to feel like they have something tangible to take away from each session.

As a former collegiate athlete, I have always been very passionate about women’s health and overall wellness. I was drawn to this work even more after my own experience during pregnancy and postpartum. I am certified in Perinatal Mental Health through Postpartum Support International and truly love working with women who are preparing for motherhood and walking through the postpartum season.

In my free time, I love spending time with my family and friends, getting outside, listening to music, and cheering on KC sports.

I look forward to supporting and empowering you as your therapist. Please know that whatever it is you're facing, you do not have to do it alone.

Madison Graham

LSCSW, Therapist

Hi, I am Maddie! I am so excited you have decided to take the next step in your wellness journey. Walking alongside you would be an absolute pleasure.

I am a wife, bonus momma to two incredible little girls, and come from a large, blended family myself. My unique personal experiences have given me a greater understanding of family dynamics, finding and creating your role in the family, building resilience through challenges, and the stressors that come with a wide range of life changes.

In working alongside me, my clients can expect to find themselves in a very open-minded, empathetic, non-judgmental, and understanding environment. My goal as a therapist is to allow women to feel comfortable showing up as they are, while also empowering and assisting them in recognizing the immense potential they have. I use evidence-based techniques to help individuals find effective and healthy ways to navigate and manage difficult circumstances, thoughts, and emotions.

Throughout my clinical experience I have worked with individuals of all ages, with a wide range of challenges, such anxiety, depression, major life changes, trauma, relational conflict, mood management, and more. As I have progressed through my profession, however, I become extremely passionate about the overall health of women- physical, mental, and emotional. I believe each of my clients already has the ability to make positive change, but sometimes it takes an outsider’s perspective looking in for that to be recognized.

I look forward to meeting you in person and am honored to walk alongside you as you begin to uncover your truest self!

Hi, I’m Carlyn and I would be honored to walk alongside you through whatever chapter of life you are currently navigating. Everyone has a unique story that deserves the time and space to be acknowledged and valued. As a counselor, I strive to provide a non-judgmental space where women can begin to let go of all the outside expectations and find themselves. Your purpose and worth is yours to decide, and together we can work towards unlearning, relearning, and creating the most empowered version of yourself.

I’m a wife, daughter, sister, retired college athlete, ESFP according to the Myers- Briggs, a 2w3 on the enneagram and a fur momma to what feels like a small zoo. When it comes to therapy, I use an individualized, holistic approach by incorporating evidence-based interventions through a person-centered lens to address and work towards your specific goals.

My  clinical experience includes working with individuals 15-55 years old to address anxiety, depression, disordered eating, athletic performance, grief, trauma, relationship concerns, career guidance and more. I have a passion for women’s health and wellness.

I would love to have the opportunity to meet you here at Counseling Co.

Grace Byers

LMFT, EMDR, Therapist

Hello, I’m Grace. I’m glad you have found your way to the Counseling Co! As humans we are wired for connection, and we often find that there is a greater likelihood for success, regardless of the challenge, when we don’t have to tackle it alone. I would be honored to be the person that walked alongside you as we uncover how capable you are.

I have experience working with adolescents, children, parents, couples, and individuals across the lifespan. I have been honored to learn their stories & work diligently with them towards the future that they envision for themselves.

My training focused on evidence based practices that I use collaboratively with each of my clients, as I believe that they are the experts in their lives. I strive for my therapy room to be a safe, open, collaborative, encouraging, and informed space that provides connections to resources. My goal is that each client will leave not only feeling they were listened to, but they were heard, understood, and given the chance to understand themselves.

I look forward to connecting with you soon!

Courtnee Divine

LSCSW, EMDR, Perinatal Mental Health, Therapist

Hi, I’m Courtnee and I’m so glad you’ve taken this first step. Sometimes showing up for ourselves can be the hardest part and the most foreign.

Getting to know the intricacies of your life and your goals for your future is what brings me to work everyday. I look forward to learning and growing alongside you. I believe that we all come to the table with a story and with strengths. My job is to listen, support and navigate the journey with you.

Before my professional licenses, I’m a mother to 3 little people + a wife + a dog mama. I am passionate as a parent and enjoy supporting those women that are also in the same season or those hoping to be. I enjoy supporting clients that are desiring parenthood to those who are in the depths of it. I value working with women who have had traumatic birth experiences or those that want to see someone that understands the nuances of the NICU. I find passion in supporting individuals with childhood trauma, including those that are sexual assault survivors or have complex family of origins.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in my home states of Kansas, Missouri and Colorado. I am a trained EMDR therapist and use somatic work to address complex trauma. I am also a trained perinatal mental health therapist with a specific interest in perinatal psychopharmacology.

My clinical experience includes individual counseling, couple’s counseling, family therapy, group therapy, school based mental health services, psychiatric care in the inpatient setting and crisis response services.

In my spare time I enjoy riding my bicycle, reading, dancing, visiting my family's farm and playing outside with my children and spouse. In the winter you can find me trying to sneak back to Colorado for a ski weekend and in the summer, a weekend on the water.
